Can someone tell me how to begin this problem. Or what to do
You build a wire by combining an 8 inches copper wire with a 10 inches nichrome wire. If their combine resistance is 10 kΩ, find the cross section area of both wires. The nichrome wire has twice the area of the copper wire.
Physics Electric current and resistance
Re: Physics Electric current and resistance
Two relevant facts:
1) Resistance = (resistivity * length)/(cross sectional area)
2) For series resistors, Rtot = R1 + R2
resistivities: google them
length: given
relationship between areas: given
Rtot: given
Only one thing to solve for!
