GRE Physics prep book

Looking to buy the "GRE: Practicing to Take the Physics Test
by Educational Testing Service (ETS)".
According to the reviews the one by REA is not recommended.

Couldn't find it in the stores. On a used one costs $124.

I was wondering where else I can get it and if its available for a better price.

Seems like this prep book "GRE: Practicing to Take the Physics Test" is really hard to find and is out of print.

Is anyone selling it? need it ASAP.

GRE Physics prep book by ETS

Post by Gili » Mon Jan 02, 2006 2:13 am

Thanks.. that helps. However, I assumed this book has a lot more in it and can actually be the main source of reviewing all the physics subjects.

Is that the entire book content?

(In other words:
A 178 pages book that costs $124-$249 contains only 4 example tests..??)

I have graduated BS a few years ago and now would like to take the GRE physics test on April 1st. Besides a few books that I used during my BS I'm looking for the best source to review all subjects and refresh my memory.
Would be glad to hear about any book/source that is made especially for the GRE physics test.

It's even worse than that--the first edition only contains *one* test, the second edition only *two* and the third editions has *three*! The fourth test is provided free online by ETS. And yup, there's no review material whatsoever.

I'd advise against the 'purple book' ('The Best Preparation for the GRE Physics') for anything more than a starter refresh course; it has some good practice questions but also a lot of typos, some very poor questions, and a very incomplete review section.

There's a huge section on this website for review books...and if you haven't discovered it yet, do try out:

It has the best test-specific prep material I've seen: worked solutions to all four tests plus advice on guessing if you're short on time. Very test-specific!

Good luck!

I found all of the tests included in the ETS Physics GRE review book at ... _prep.aspx

Thanks BYU!
