What ranks should we assign for certain numbers of posts

I am trying to determine what ranks we should assign to users who have posted a certain number of times. For example, if somebody has less than 50 or more posts then we might give them a rank of "new user". If they have 50 or more posts then we might give them a rank of "junior member" etc.

I am open to any and all suggestions but it would be nice to for the ranks it have something to do with physics like base it on star size or something like that.

Thoughts on rankings

How about ranking levels based on:
-degrees of freedom
-MEv's of energy (when you get to ionizing levels you know you're hot stuff)
-entropy (it always goes up!)

Ok, How about how close we are to "graduating" i.e., making our personal goal on the GRE? I would be a neophyte since I just joined and I will be a first time test-taker. People who have taken it once but are still working to improve their scores are dilettantes, and those who are all said and done can be alumni. And lastly there could be the observers- all the Physics GRE sadomasochists who just want to hang around and observe our misery, occasionally commenting.

hmmmm

The only thing I could think of was to make the different levels based upon different types of e-m radiation. Low posters would start at a low radio frequencies then move to microwaves then to visible light and so on. And see its extra dorky, because a person's total post count is most likely related to their posting frequency...owch, that hurt even me...

Sorry, but that was all I could come up with.

We could do something with famous physicists names. New members could be "Little Einsteins", then you become a "Cool as Feynman", then on to "Mad as Maxwell" and finally "Newtonian". Or something like that.

Thanks for all you input everybody. I believe for the moment we are going to go with:

new user - 1 post
interstellar gas - 3 posts
dwarf - 10 posts
giant - 25 posts
supergiant - 100+ posts

This is good because it isn't much fun being a gas and being a dwarf isn't much better. Hopefully people will have a little extra incentive to participate.

post or perish

Perhaps the academic system can provide a suggestion for ranking users.

However, quality of post might be an issue. If I'm nothing more that a 'post factory', bombarding forums with rather shady submissions, it certainly can't be as valuable as a quality post. Perhaps a ranking system based on post-or-perish philosophy is in order.

various ranks would be:
post-doc ( a lowly post-doc)
lecturer
visiting assist. prof.
assistant prof.
assoc. prof.
prof.
prof. emeritus

I'm sure one can go overboard with such a thing, assuming I haven't already done it.

Bonus points to someone who can derive such a ranking system based on german or russian universities. Privatdozent has a nice ring to it.
